Oud

The Oud is a major instrument in the eastern musical Takht (podium) This instrument is one of the oldest musical instruments created by man. It dates back to 5000 BC. Its name comes from an Arabic word that means wood. It was created by many manufacturers such as Al-Baghdadi, Mohammed Fadel, Khalid Hilal, Al-Masri and Damaschqi. It is also famous for being played by many well-known musicians, such as Sayed Makkawi, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, Riyad Al-Sunbati, Farid Al-Atrash.

The guitar is a string musical instrument which is played with fingers or a small plastic piece called a plectrum. It comes in many shapes and types.

Violin

The violin is a western string instrument made from wood. It consists of four strings that are played with a bow. It is one of the most famous instruments used in classical music. The violin’s shape was borrowed from an Oriental musical instrument called Rababa.

Kanun

The Kanun is an oriental string instrument, made of glossy wood. It dates back to the Abbasi period, and is basic to the eastern Takht (podium).  The instrument consists of eighty-eight strings and is played with a small ivory plectra placed on the index fingers of both hands.

Piano

The Piano is a large musical instrument played by pressing the black and white keys on the keyboard. The sound is produced small hammers hitting the metal strings inside the piano. It is a European string instrument that is considered as an evolution of the Kanun.
