The Fujairah Fine Arts Academy, in cooperation with the Punitive and Correctional Institution affiliated with the Fujairah Police General Command, honored a number of the institution’s inmates, participating in the Fujairah International Arabic Calligraphy Competition, in the presence of Brigadier Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi, Director of the Correctional and Punitive Institution, Major Fahd Nasser Amer, Head of the Correction and Rehabilitation Department, and Mubarak Al-Sheikh. The participation of the inmates of the Punitive and Correctional Institution in the Arabic Calligraphy Competition comes within the framework of cooperation between the Fujairah Fine Arts Academy and the General Command of the Fujairah Police, through the “A Step towards Creativity” initiative launched by the Academy, which aims to develop the talents of the inmates of the Punitive and Correctional Institution in the Emirate of Fujairah and qualify them academically and scientifically in the fields of Various arts.
Brigadier General Ahmed Hamdan Al-Zeyoudi praised the efforts of the Fujairah Academy in refining and developing the inmates’ skills and exploiting their free time for what will benefit them inside and outside the institution so that the inmates become good members of society, in furtherance of the strategic goal of enhancing security and safety.
Ali Obaid Al-Hafiti, Director General of the Fujairah Academy of Fine Arts, stressed the importance of consolidating cooperation and partnership relations with local and federal institutions and departments, establishing joint activities and programs in the emirate, and improving services in the field of arts, pointing out that the educational staff at the academy had organized a number of courses for penal inmates to teach the two categories. Al-Hafiti praised the role of the Fujairah Police General Command in providing all the necessary facilities to the academy, with the aim of employing the capabilities of the inmates of the penal and correctional institution within the framework of community service.
It is noteworthy that the Fujairah International Arabic Calligraphy Competition was organized by the Fujairah Academy of Fine Arts under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, Chairman of the Academy’s Board of Trustees, with the participation of 114 calligraphers who represented more than 26 countries from around the world.
