The Fujairah fine arts Academy held, at the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in Fujairah, the opening ceremony of the School of Gilding and Ornamentation, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah.
Ali Obaid Al-Hafiti, Director of the Fujairah Academy of Fine Arts, said that the School of Gilding and Ornamentation targets those interested in and studying this type of art, highlighting its place and importance in the history of the Islamic world, and providing them with the necessary skills to produce and work on it.
For her part, Dr. Israa Al-Hamal, Director of the School of Gilding and Ornamentation, said that the school is an artistic and cultural project to decorate manuscripts and Qurans, and it will constitute an important platform for graduates of arts, design, architecture, and marketing with the aim of refining their creativity and skills and introducing them to the theoretical language of historical Islamic arts.
She added that the school will offer skill workshops and an annual diploma aimed at reviving traditional manuscript arts, covering five sections: gilding, decoration, Arabic calligraphy, miniatures, and bookmaking crafts, and will receive bachelor’s graduates from all specializations.
